The former AEG site at Markgrafenstraße 44 on Berlin's Gendarmenmarkt was razed to the ground during the Second World War. Today, Germany's first thermal power station and the “Centralstation Markgrafenstraße” are still commemorated by a memorial plaque on the new building erected there today.
